Mondays at the Block Concert Series returns with "A Night in Brazil with the Jovino Santos Neto Trio"

Three-time Latin Grammy-nominee Jovino Santos Neto is a Brazilian born, Seattle-based master pianist and composer. Santos Neto has toured the world for over forty years, performing with mentor Hermeto Pascoal, Bill Frisell, and Paquito D'Rivera, among others. Joining him on this special evening is drummer/percussionist Sergio Reze, also from Brazil, and renowned for his innovative collaborations with top international artists from Andre Mehmari to Patrick Zimmerli. Tim Carey, who's made his name as an exceptionally versatile bass guitarist, completes the trio.

This trio will delight you by transcending the limits of their instruments—deftly exploring new timbres and melodic elements and sparking lightning-fast improvisations. They'll play a rich range of Brazilian styles from traditional to contemporary, choro to baião, samba, samba-jazz, bossa nova and more. If you've ever watched fireflies on a summer night, you'll have a sense of the flashes of brilliance that await you.
